TANIP-1 Amendment Proposal: In-App Missions Upgrade

Title: TANIP-1 Amendment Proposal: In-App Missions Upgrade

Leading on from my previous proposal on the 7th (Revised TANIP-1 Proposal: Redirect TEL Issuance Towards Centralised Exchange Listings) this is a new proposal taking a different direction.

Overview: This proposal introduces a revised approach to Phase 1 of TANIP-1 by transitioning from passive reward emissions based on fee volume to a mission-based rewards system integrated directly within the Telcoin Wallet. The aim is to promote genuine ecosystem engagement, reduce gaming, and drive sustainable user behaviour aligned with Telcoin’s app-layer goals.

Background: TANIP-1 was originally designed to incentivise usage of the Telcoin app through a fee-based reward structure. However, real-world outcomes have revealed several critical flaws:

  • Overconcentration of rewards among a few high-volume wallets.
  • Minimal rewards reaching new or typical users.
  • Systemic gaming of volume-based incentives.
  • High emissions with no measurable increase in long-term user growth.

This amendment retains the spirit of TANIP-1 but replaces its execution model with a more transparent, goal-driven, and user-friendly structure: in-app missions.

Proposal: Create a new “Missions” tab within the Telcoin Wallet that offers users a rotating set of reward-earning tasks. Missions are designed to reward meaningful engagement with wallet features such as remittances, swaps, staking, referrals, and consistent activity.

How It Works:

  • If full integration into the Telcoin app proves resource-intensive, an alternative implementation could involve an external web dashboard. Users could visit the dashboard, view available missions as tiles, and verify completion by pasting their wallet address. This offers a lightweight and scalable interim solution while preserving engagement.
  • Users log into the Telcoin app and access the Missions tab.
  • Tasks are automatically tracked via the user’s wallet address.
  • Upon completion, missions are marked as complete and rewards are credited.
  • The TAN Council governs mission logic, reward tiers, and weekly budget caps.

Note: While this upgrade still does not address users in regions where the Telcoin app is currently unavailable, it lays a strong foundation for future adoption. When the app becomes accessible in additional markets, the missions feature will offer an inviting and engaging experience for new users to participate immediately.

Note: All proposed missions remain within the scope of app-layer engagement as defined in TANIP-1. As always, legal review should be conducted by the Telcoin team prior to implementation to ensure compliance across all jurisdictions.

Note: This proposal may come across as overly gamified at first glance. However, the intention is to explore creative solutions beyond traditional models. A final implementation—revised and approved by the TAN Council—could adopt a more balanced tone and structure while retaining the core mission-based framework.

Note: From a development perspective, integrating a mission-based system should be technically feasible. The Telcoin Wallet already tracks user activity and wallet addresses, which can be extended with minimal overhead to trigger and verify mission completions through backend logic.

Example Missions: The following is a non-final set of sample missions. Reward values are intentionally omitted and would be discussed and determined by the TAN Council. Additional missions (e.g., longer staking streaks, new feature interactions) can be added over time.

Mission Name Task Description
First Remit Send a remittance via the app to a supported region
Multi-Asset Swap Swap two different assets using the in-app swap feature
Stake TEL Stake any amount of TEL through the staking feature
Trade Streak Complete a swap each week for 3 consecutive weeks
Holder Loyalty Hold (X) amount of TEL for 4 weeks without withdrawing
Referral Activated Enable the referral link in the app
Referral Achiever Refer 15 users who complete at least one transaction
App Explorer Use 3 different wallet features in one week

Ongoing Engagement & Sustainability: To ensure continued participation beyond the initial mission set, the system can include:

  • Recurring & Streak Missions: Weekly/monthly tasks and bonuses for consistent engagement (e.g. 4-week staking streak).
  • Tiered Progression: Unlock higher-tier missions as users complete earlier ones (e.g. Referral Rookie → Pro → Legend).
  • Lottery Mechanics: Users earn entries into weekly reward draws based on completed missions.
  • Seasonal Events: Limited-time missions tied to product launches or campaigns (e.g. L1 onboarding week).
  • Performance-Based Bonuses: Extra rewards for top activity tiers based on wallet engagement.
  • Badge/NFT Unlockables: Non-transferable rewards tied to achievements that may unlock future benefits or governance perks.

These mechanics are designed to keep users engaged long-term while maintaining emissions control and aligning incentives with Telcoin’s growth roadmap.

Benefits:

  • Fair & Inclusive: Rewards users based on actual usage, not raw volume.
  • Anti-Gaming: Reduces dominance by high-frequency or automated wallets.
  • Feature Adoption: Promotes exploration of staking, remittance, swap and referral systems.
  • Retention: Encourages ongoing user engagement through streak-based missions.
  • Governable: Allows the TAN Council to update missions, rewards, and caps dynamically.

Funding & Emissions Control:

  • Pause current TANIP-1 emissions to prevent waste.
  • Reallocate the existing TANIP-1 budget to the Missions system.
  • Implement a max weekly reward cap (e.g., to be determined by the TAN Council) to extend programme life and ensure sustainability.

Conclusion: This TANIP-1 amendment provides a structured, app-integrated solution that addresses key flaws of the original system. It retains the original goals of incentivising app-layer engagement, while doing so in a way that is fair, transparent, and effective.

I invite the TAN Council and broader community to engage in a productive discussion around this proposal, exploring its viability, structure, and potential improvements as a path forward for revising TANIP-1.

Now this is unique! I love the idea of “competition through action” and rewarding people for it. The idea of different missions being fluid is awesome also and keeps things fresh and engaging.

Furthermore, it helps draw people to the app and using the ecosystem which will compound fee generation.

Really out of the box and cool idea here.

Thanks for submitting this, Bluelights.. really solid thinking around user behavior, emissions efficiency, and long-term engagement.

That said, I want to clarify something important for the sake of alignment:

The Telcoin Wallet app is developed and maintained by Telcoin Holdings, not the Telcoin Association. The TAN Council does not have the authority to mandate or implement changes within the app itself.

Because of that, any proposal requiring new in-app features (like a Missions tab or integrated reward tracking) falls outside the Council’s scope.

However, the external dashboard option you mentioned does seem like a viable alternative that could fall within our domain. If designed properly, it could replicate much of the functionality you’re aiming for (reward logic, mission tracking, wallet verification, etc.) without needing app integration.

I’d be open to working through a refined version of this proposal that focuses specifically on an externally governed Missions system. If the data shows real engagement and results, it could even serve as a foundation for deeper collaboration with Telcoin Holdings down the road?

Thanks again for continuing to push ideas forward. The ecosystem needs that.

Thanks for the thoughtful clarification — you’re absolutely right, and I should’ve made it clearer from the start that the Telcoin Wallet is developed by Telcoin Holdings, and thus outside the TAN Council’s direct scope for implementation.

That said, I’m fully aligned on pivoting the proposal toward an externally hosted Missions Dashboard. This would allow the TAN Council to define and manage the logic, rewards, and governance without relying on in-app changes — while still enabling users to earn by engaging with the ecosystem via their wallet activity.

If this proves successful in driving real usage and retention, it could also lay the groundwork for future collaboration with Holdings should they choose to explore deeper integration.

Really appreciate the constructive feedback and looking forward to evolving this idea with the community.

I love the idea. Can I propose that an EarnToLearn-type mission is also included, which would reward users for watching videos/educating themselves about Telcoin and the use of the App/purpose of staking/user referrals/ecosystem etc.

This could go viral!
