TIP Funding Proposal - Media and Marketing Campaign to Support Telcoin Ecosystem Awareness

[TIP Funding Proposal] Media & Marketing Campaign to Support Telcoin Ecosystem Awareness

Submitted to: Platform and Treasury Council

Proposed by: Steven Bostic, TAN Council

Date: Revised 3/29/2025

Funding Request: $40,000 USD (or TEL equivalent) per quarter, for 4 quarters (Total: $160,000)

Category: Ecosystem Growth / Awareness / Community Development

Overview

This proposal seeks recurring funding from the Platform and Treasury Council to support a focused, community-aligned media and marketing campaign designed to amplify awareness of the Telcoin ecosystem, governance, and Telcoin’s real-world financial use cases.

The campaign will utilize crypto-native media platforms, sponsored educational content, community-led initiatives, and short-form video — all executed without reliance on paid influencers. The approach is grounded in decentralization, education, and long-term alignment with the Telcoin community.

Purpose

Despite ongoing innovation and development, public awareness of the Telcoin ecosystem remains low, particularly among crypto-native audiences. Telcoin’s governance model, decentralized applications, compliance-first framework, and user-owned structure distinguish it from peers — and these differentiators deserve broader exposure.

This initiative will increase ecosystem visibility, attract new participants (users and app developers), and support a stronger narrative for Telcoin within the wider blockchain and fintech communities. It is intended to complement development and technical progress by ensuring the ecosystem’s story reaches a values-aligned global audience.

Scope of Work

  1. Paid Ads on Crypto Platforms

• Strategic ad placements on platforms like Cointelegraph, CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, CoinDesk, and X (Twitter)

• Targeted toward increasing visibility for governance updates, ecosystem milestones, and educational campaigns

  1. Sponsored Editorials & Media Coverage

• Commissioned articles and interviews through reputable industry publications and newsletters

• Focused on real-world use cases, Telcoin’s approach to decentralization and compliance, and governance

  1. Community-Led Awareness Campaigns

• Micro-grants and bounties awarded to community members for creating content such as explainers, memes, infographics, and more

• Designed to engage grassroots contributors from Telcoin communities around the world

• Open call to the community: If you have a creative idea to increase Telcoin visibility or education, pitch it on the forum — there is a dedicated budget for this, and all submissions will be reviewed through the existing governance proposal system

  1. Short-Form Educational Video Content

• Production of 3–5 high-quality, 60–90 second videos per quarter

• Topics include:

â—¦ What is the Association and governance?

â—¦ How to participate in governance

â—¦ what is the Application Network and how to participate

◦ Telcoin’s real-world financial impact

â—¦ Development progress and current use cases

â—¦ Community-led projects and initiatives

  1. Designated Referral Code for Sustainability

• The Telcoin App already includes a referral code system tied to wallets

• An association specific referral code will be assigned to a council-controlled wallet

• Referral rewards generated through this campaign will be routed back to the wallet, allowing the marketing initiative to evolve into a self-sustaining model over time

• This creates a direct link between ecosystem growth and treasury sustainability

Budget Breakdown (per quarter)

Category Allocation
Crypto-Native Ads $15,000
Sponsored Editorials $10,000
Community Campaigns $7,500
Video Production $7,500
Quarterly Total $40,000
Annual Total (4 quarters) $160,000

Funds will be disbursed to a multisig wallet managed by the Platform and Treasury Councils. Progress and financial updates will be reported publicly.

Expected Outcomes

• Increased visibility of the Telcoin ecosystem across crypto-native platforms and communities

• Enhanced understanding and participation in governance and Application Network sustainability

• Expanded presence in trusted media and educational content outlets

• Deeper engagement from the community through contributor-driven content and campaigns

• A sustainable growth mechanism via referral rewards tied to campaign performance

Success Indicators

• 10+ media placements or sponsored content articles per quarter

• 20% growth in governance participation or proposal visibility

• 30% increase in community engagement across social platforms and forum activity

• 3–5 reusable educational videos released per quarter

• Active use and growth of the Association referral code with documented rewards earned

Closing Notes

This proposal reflects Telcoin Associations mission to empower potential developers and users through decentralization, transparency, and education. By funding strategic, community-centric awareness campaigns and establishing a path to sustainability via referral rewards, we are investing in long-term ecosystem health and visibility.

Great proposal!

Another idea to consider would be contracting any crypto influencers to post about telcoin

I originally had influencers in here, but these days, those posts come across as disingenuous. My internal battle is understanding the reach that they have.

We could certainly open it up, or at least include it as an avenue; I stated “no reliance on influencers” in the opening statement and I could modify. Personally, I am not a fan of that path…they have no grass root connections in my mind.

I really like the initiative here—my only concern is that the budget may not go very far.

For reference, Coinsniper (a presale-focused platform) charges between $9,000–$15,000 per month for banner placements, depending on geo-targeting (global vs. country-specific).

Typical publication costs are:

  • Sponsored posts: $800–$1,500+

  • Organic news articles: $600–$800+

  • Press releases: $350–$600+

To make the most of the budget, bulk deals are often necessary. Working with a media agency can bring these costs down significantly—sometimes to just a few hundred dollars per post—but that would require a consistent marketing strategy and budget.

I do have personal relationships that allow for some organic coverage on crypto news platforms usually at no cost, but this only applies to genuinely newsworthy content, not promotional material. Promotional material will cost but im sure i can get us a good deal.

Telcoin currently works with a media agency, though I’m not familiar with their exact pricing. If publications are the priority, I can arrange calls with a few relevant agencies.

Personally, I’m not convinced banners provide good ROI—they’re often expensive for limited visibility. A more sustainable approach would focus on consistent exposure. One potential strategy is to partner with a brand or agency that offers syndicated content to major outlets via RSS feeds, providing broader and ongoing reach.

We would need to have the content written which we can easily do via AI and human oversight to ensure it does not flag as AI written content and also ensures it has a uniformed writing style which is essentially seen as the voice of the Association for any written content.

There would also need to be an approval process created on said content to ensure we are ticking all the boxes for information each publication is to cover.

Agree with the banner sentiment, and I purposefully didn’t use banner in the wording…in my experience there’s very little ROI. I left it more broadly open and reference “ads”. Now, I think these ads can be cleverly designed with CTAs to drive people to the targeted part of the platform the ad would be developed for; the TAO, TAO education, the app, etc…

Budget wise, maybe we should consider a quarterly budget of around the same dollars?

Fantastic proposal, having a few professional videos containing the relevant information will go miles in the community. We need something solid to share, and pass over to new community members. This will also take the pressure off of the council constantly having to answer the same questions

Is it worth while for any publications or content we create an account for Telcoin Association for all referrals on these posts?

Means anyone utilising the referral code within these paid for Telcoin Association publications or marketing materials and goes to trade on app we get a continously growing marketing pot.

Essentially a self sustaining marketing budget across the board. Wont be much to start but it could grow tremendously.

Ohhh, I like it.

Generating its own funds to Market on a continuous basis would in turn help the community reach and their own referral sharing.

We could also pay for bounties, tournaments, etc…that benefit rhe community.

Exactly that. It would enable us to fund not only marketing efforts but also community-led initiatives.

Think back to the brand ambassador program — we could develop our own version under the Telcoin Association once everything is up and running and truly self-sustaining.

The community is seeking visibility, education, and awareness. If you have an idea, pitch it to us on the forum. There’s a dedicated budget for this, and it will all be managed through the proposal system we’re already using.

Right on! I’ll revise to include this as it’s a brilliant idea

Also worth while whilst we are at it is putting a proposal forward for the Telcoin Association to apply for GSMA membership themselves and we then apply to create a node so the association has skin in the game so this feeds further into our self sustaining budget.

Costs would be GSMA membership fee and cost of the node which would also end up as a self sustaining budget for the association.
Just operating costs then.

I didn’t include this idea, I was thinking it may be its own separate proposal.

However, the rest of the edits are up! I like this one, especially the self-sustaining model now included.

Im not sure the TAO would be able to have a node? Parker specifically stated only MNO’s can apply for a validator node, although the idea is good, i think it would require a change to allow the TAO to run a node on the network no?

It will need to be explored for sure.

I agree with your assessment on the influencers. Does not feel authentic to me. There’s so much to share with honest enthusiasm, skip the influencers.

Thanks for your comment.

It is a battle, because I know the reach they have.

Perhaps add partner sponsorship. For example, consider a Telcoin-sponsored TGC competition. TGC would likely promote it well within their own community. To give a ballpark figure, the prize money for their first event is $2,000 (prize pool) + $500 rewards for viewers. Ensure a Telcoin Association wallet referral code is featured on any official competition advertisements.

A quick suggestion:

Unutilized tanip1 rewards has been talked about a lot lately. I’d propose to put any unclaimed in a marketing fund specifically aimed at community engagement and contests. (Giveaways, et )

This, in theory, already takes place. The remaining rewards goes back to the TAN safe where we can then allocate funds for things like marketing from.

Sure! But from my understanding there has been no paid marketing campaigns or decisions after 7 weeks of unallocated funds from TANIP1, hence why (both you and I) are pushing for this to happen sooner than later. (Weeks rather than months)
