We spoke to this at the last TAN council meeting, as to where marketing stems from. It sounds like we can run in parallel with the TIP proposal I submitted, and can have both councils working on marketing.
TIP = Holistic
TAN = growing the Application Network.
The current TIP is generic as to the initiatives that will come from it, it’s more to establish the $40k per quarter budget. We can then focus for content sake, however the idea of bringing in marketing firms is appealing, as council members time to manage all of this is limited as we all have careers, families, etc…
As long as we keep in mind what we are trying to achieve with marketing efforts, and the direct impact it will have on the different areas of focus, I’m for it and excited.
I also think that it’s important to set deadlines that are measurable with any finalized proposal. It would greatly quell the crowd that says “things get done too slow”
I get that but we also have to remember that managing all of this is not the councils full time jobs. We will get there, but we are always going to be battling this.
I think this is one of the reasons Parker mentioned interviewing firms that COULD dedicate the time (paid of course ).
It might be prudent to look at a marketing council position solely for that purpose. They could handle the communications (like turtel does for listings) and report on ROI/statistics
You have to remember too, arie’s proposal passed and the council agreed to wait and see how (when implemented) it reduced the amount of leftover unclaimed rewards
